Daily life and Activities

Residents choose for themselves how and where they wish to spend their time.  They do as little or as much as they want each day. To help keep life interesting we offer an extensive range of activities, including:

  • Frequent visiting entertainers
  • Puzzles/card games/bingo
  • Visiting hairdresser/chiropodist
  • Mobile Library
  • Daily Newspapers/magazines (arranged on request)
  • Mobile shop for clothing, toiletries, stationary, snacks etc.
  • Communal sing-a-longs/dancing
  • Social events such as Christmas parties and summer barbeques
  • Craft sessions
  • One to one discussion sessions
  • Hand massage/nail care
  • Group and individual outings, including short holidays with staff support
  • A large group outing every summer

We also support and respect residents’ spiritual needs. As part of this we have regular visits from local clergy as well as services conducted by the Salvation Army.

Occasionally, residents may wish to go out for a change of scene. Haverhill, just two miles away, offers extensive amenities which include an accessible arts centre, cinema, restaurants, cafés, indoor swimming pool, three large supermarkets, outdoor market twice a week and the Burton Centre where coffee mornings are held. Many residents enjoy visiting these amenities and going shopping, accompanied by staff or relatives. Transport into the town is arranged for wheelchair users.
